1 - A Few Simple Rules
Mark 11
22 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God.
23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and
be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those
things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that
you receive them, and you will have them.
25 "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive
him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your
trespasses."
NKJV
There are times in our lives when we have to pray about matters that concern
us until the issue is resolved in the way that God desires. This is the time
when I must speak for myself.
In this passage the Lord Jesus gives us some rules for this kind of sustained
prayer:
verse 22: Have faith in God
The literal meaning of these words is: HAVE THE FAITH OF GOD.
When God spoke the creation into being, He spoke with His level of faith, which
is the highest level of faith.
If we are to pray and get God's outcome, we must speak with His level of faith.
verse 23: whoever SAYS to this mountain ... and does not doubt in his heart
Though the situation may look like a mountain from our perspective, Jesus says
we are to speak to it.
When we speak to our mountainous situation, we are to entertain no doubts in our heart.
verse 23: he will have whatever he SAYS
We have to keep speaking the SAME THING into the mountainous situation. If we
speak different things each time we pray, that will do us no good. Make sure
that you are speaking God's word into your situation, then you will get the best result.
verse 24: whatever THINGS you ask when you pray
This kind of praying is not for asking about people but instead about things.
verse 24: believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Believe first, receive the things after.
verse 25 & 26: whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone,
forgive him
Forgive, Forgive, Forgive!
Prayer:
Thank You for teaching us how to pray consistently, Lord Jesus.
Now help us to be consistent in what we SAY today and always,
Amen.
